The oldest of them are clustered in the city centre where the most famous date from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Behind these colleges, the area known as The Backs provides some of the finest views in the world. You can gaze at the magnificent architecture of the college buildings in their perfectly tranquil setting bordering the River Cam including the most famous landmark, King's College Chapel.
The city of Cambridge is a charming market town, built around the magnificence of the university. There are many interesting cobbled streets and alley-ways, making it an ideal place for strolling and exploring. There is a wealth of cafes and restaurants, and a great variety of pubs, including many of historic interest.
